In response to the Data Gathering on Research Ethics Committee in Western Visayas initiated by the Ethics Review Committee of the Western Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (WVHRDC), the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) indicated that a research ethics committee is set to be established in their hospital. Thus, there will be a Health Research Ethics Seminar and Organization of Ethics Review Board on February 27-28, 2012 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
This activity will help CLMMRH, a WVHRDC member institution, equip their training officers, consultants, nursing staff and administrative staff who will constitute their institution’s research committee and health research ethics review board. Specifically, the objectives of this activity are: (1) to organize research committee and ethics review board; (2) to equip its members of the basic knowledge about ethical issues surrounding the conduct of health research that need to be addressed to protect human subjects, the health institution, the researchers, the community and the environment, and (3) to orient the members of the committee of the guidelines and basic steps for the effective screening and deliberation of health research proposals.
